Olivia Mitchell is in her third year as the Director of Operations for the Notre Dame Football program. In her role, Mitchell is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the football program, coordinating a variety of administrative duties from top to bottom such as team travel, preseason camp, practice arrangements, summer camps, and the annual coaches’ clinic while supervising the operations staff and student workers.

Previously serving as a team operations intern for the College Football Playoff, Mitchell assisted in the planning and execution of all events and operations associated with the teams participating in the 2017 College Football Playoff National Championship. Also, Mitchell supervised the planning materials requested from the participating teams, assisted participants’ personnel in the execution of the team and official party hospitality programs.

Mitchell’s journey to football operations started back at Crete-Monee High School where Mitchell was a high school cheerleader for all four years with her attention specifically on football. Her father is an avid Notre Dame and Chicago Bears super fan which helped fuel that love for football.

Mitchell’s hard word and appointment as the Director of Football Operations represents growth in the field, not only for women, but women of color. Mitchell is one of a handful of women in this position within Division I football and is the first African American in this position at Notre Dame.
